St. John’s School, India – a place of blessing and hope!
St. John’s School provides an English language education to children in a very remote, rural area in Andhra Pradesh, India. It serves the poorest of the poor in thirteen villages located within five miles of the school. St. John’s students have few to no other options to get an education.
St. John’s is in its fifth academic year (2018-19) and has grown to six grades with 217 students (80 girls). Since it opened, St. John’s has gained an excellent reputation. Interest in the school continues to grow as people observe the positive changes in the lives of the students. It is especially exciting to see the growing number of girls and siblings sets at St. John’s. Although many Indian families in this rural area once considered it a waste of money to educate their girls, many parents have now caught the vision of the value of educating their daughters. St. John’s will continue to expand, adding a pre-Kindergarten class of 40 students each year until the school is complete through 10th grade (480 students). St. John’s is accredited and adheres to the Indian government’s educational requirements.
St. John’s welcomes all students. No distinctions are made and everyone is equally valued, cared for, and encouraged to reach their full potential regardless of religion, caste, social status, economic level, or gender. This is one of the core values that make St. John’s a unique and safe place where all students can excel.
The teachers at St. John’s provide an excellent education and help develop the students in all areas of life. The school provides supplemental, healthy snacks for the kids several times each week to help their brains and bodies become better developed. The students at St. John’s work very hard and are thriving both academically and personally. Both the staff and parents have expressed how thrilled they are with the students’ progress. Attending St. John’s gives hope and opportunity to children who never dreamed that they would ever go to school. We thank God for each child that is able to attend St. John’s School.
As the school continues to grow, so do the needs. St. John’s depends primarily on the generosity of donors who want to support the education of these precious children. God is at work and we thank Him for His continued faithfulness.
